Holiday/seasonal themed pictures are all right, as long as you shy away from religious holidays unless you know the character's religion. Science-fiction is about determining what is human, for me, so it seemed only natural to include it." I love the starry background -- it looks like an astrophoto, but it's just Photoshop filters. I chose that kind of background because Irene is a time mage, and they are often associated with space as well (with spells like Meteor and Comet)." Here she stares down The Computer, a fellow prisoner (if not a biological sort), but one who is far more pessimistic about escape. I love the effects the computer core's lighing has on Shiro's face... I made it look far darker than it did in the comic, for dramatic effect. The dialogue as taken straight from the comic -- I'm lazy..." I did a lot of Delwyn and Fifi verbally sparring, with several inside jokes between Uncreativity (Fifi's creator, remember, and a RL friend of mine) and myself. Because stupid Keenspace was having problems, I had problems coloring it (as in getting a colored picture for reference -- eventually I had to work from emory, mostly. Hope I got it right). Plus I wanted to try to emulate L Buff's coloring style for the comic -- sort of a very soft feel, done mostly with monochrome pencils, with some colored pencils. I like how the headress turned out, but the hands look a bit funny, and, for someone who draws a lot of pointed ears, I hate how his came out. I in general like free spirits, and that's how she struck me. I was in a monochrome pencil mood (I've been working mostly in traditional media recently -- I really don't know why), but I wanted to jazz it up a bit. I tinted my pencil lines with a sort of multicolor to try to reflect Jade's presonality, and used the backgroudn to try to simulate stage lighting like that used at a concert." I learned two things from this. The first is that any costume that covers most of the body is incredibly hot. The second is that the time when employees are called on to wear these costumes, we will always be hitting record highs (and they will be drinking ice water by the gallon). So, here we have Chips, the intrepid mascot of the Nacho Palace trying to stay cool while passing out coupons on a hot summer's day.
