Experimenting with some styles. Stylistic cues come from Miwa Shirow.

This is elaborating on the point I made in my last picture. This is how I imagine the opposite side of the anime "cheeky mouth" must look like. Again, sorry for the poor quality -- I'm drawing this with a mouse as I don't have access to a tablet -- but it illustrates my point.

I just hate it when kids who don't know the first thing about facial anatomy decide to draw "anime style" because it's "cool" or whatever, and end up doing hideous profiles like these. It just bugs me!

I feel ya.
Most of those people don't realize that characters aren't drawn a specific way just because it's a stylistic device, but because they're faster to draw that way. If they actually looked at the source material for a lot of animations they'd see a very different looking character, usually one with much more complicated and detailed anatomy.
Still no reason why they make it look like hard-boiled ass though, or why they post it on the internet "LOL LOOK AT MAI ORIJINUL KARUCTER! ISN'T SHE AWESOM?" regarding, a "female" character with no breasts, who happens to be built like a beanpole in a stiff breeze, and more lopsided than Michael Jackson's plastic surgery. Either that or a crappy Sonic the Hedgehog recolored in MS paint with a strikingly hi-res 8 bit background made of aids and fail.

tl;dr : I dun get it either.
